Modern Niagara recognized among Canada’s safest employers

In a virtual award ceremony hosted on October 22nd, Modern Niagara was awarded the Excellence Award for Best Health & Safety Culture and the Excellence Award for Safest Construction Employer from the Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine.

These awards recognize Modern Niagara’s prioritization of health and safety at the forefront of our daily operation, something Brad McAninch, CEO at Modern Niagara Group Inc., is proud and honored to accept.

“Modern Niagara strives to ensure that our culture is one that embraces high safety standards in everything we do. Each day, our teams strive to ensure our work sites are the safest in Canada. As we face our new reality brought on by COVID-19, our teams continue to adapt to health & safety measures that keep coworkers, partners, and the public, safe. These nominations are a demonstration of their continued dedication to providing a safe and effective workplace for all of Modern Niagara.”

In addition to the two company recognitions, the Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine also honoured Erin Oliver, VP Health, Safety & Sustainability at Modern Niagara, with the Avetta News Award for Safety Leader of the Year.

“I also want to congratulate Erin Oliver on winning the Avetta Award for Safety Leader of the Year – an achievement that truly represents Erin’s commitment to health & safety and the critical work she does every day to make sure we are all staying #ModernSafe,” said McAninch.

Erin’s hard work is felt by everyone at Modern Niagara. Michelle Schneider, an HSE Specialist from Edmonton, recognized Erin’s invaluable commitment to their team. “The moment I saw Erin’s award being announced, I screamed! Erin has worked so hard for Modern Niagara, and I’d hope that every person I know gets to work with someone as dedicated as Erin! Congratulations!”

Canada’s Safest Employers Awards are the leading independent awards event for the nation’s occupational health and safety profession, which recognizes outstanding employers in key industries from across Canada for their achievements, leadership, and innovation in health and safety over the past 12 months.[1] Considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the changes it has forced upon companies to continue their work while keeping their employees safe and healthy, these year’s awards carry a special significance for Modern Niagara.
