Modern Niagara participates in Canadian Blood Services donation drive
On July 28 and 29, Modern Niagara employees participated in a blood drive as part of our partnership with Canadian Blood Services (CBS). Over the course of this two-day period, 24 Modern Niagara employees from our major regions donated blood at remote donation centres set up by CBS, with all donations facilitated in accordance with the respective provincial public health guidelines
In the domain of blood, plasma, and stem cells, Canadian Blood Services (CBS) provides lifesaving products and services in transfusion and transplantation for Canadian patients and safeguards Canada’s systems of life essentials, providing services for patients on behalf of all provincial and territorial governments, except Quebec. It operates with a national scope, infrastructure, and governance that makes it unique within Canadian healthcare.
Our team members from Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa took part in the drive on July 28, while our Toronto and Vancouver teams participated on the 29. One of our team members who took part in a regional drive is Stephanie Crooks, a Project Coordinator at Modern Niagara Ottawa. Stephanie highlighted her motivations for taking part in the drive as well as the importance of donating.
“This is something I have wanted to do for a long time,” Stephanie mentioned. “Over the years I have had close family members fall ill and require blood transfusions, and I am grateful for the opportunity that Modern has given me to finally do this.”
Beth Frise, National Partnership Manager at CBS, also spoke about the importance of companies such as Modern Niagara contributing to their organization’s mission.
“We are thrilled to have Modern Niagara demonstrate their commitment to Canadian patients by partnering with us,” said Beth. “By complimenting financial giving with a summer blood drive and a winter stem cell registration campaign, you are helping us continue to get blood donors through our doors and lifesaving products out to hospitals.”
“Modern Niagara’s valued support helps ensure we can keep delivering on our promise to help every patient, match every need, and serve every Canadian,” Beth added.
In addition, many of our employees who were unable to participate in these blood drives expressed a keen interest in supporting CBS in the future. In fact, 62 Modern Niagara employees also signed up with CBS’ Partners for Life program, which will allow Modern Niagara to meaningfully contribute and accomplish team contribution goals through future activities like booking group donations, hosting donation events, raising awareness, or starting a pledge.
We want to thank all our participating employees for taking time out of their days to be a part of Modern’s efforts to assist CBS and we look forward to contributing to the incredible and crucial work of this organization in the future.
