Project Highlights:
The Humber River Hospital is on its way to becoming North America’s first fully digital hospital and a pioneer in process improvement and efficiency. It delivers a broad range of services — from emergency care to mental health services — on both an in- and outpatient basis.
Modern Niagara was proud to be part of the project’s public–private partnership through Infrastructure Ontario’s Alternative Finance and Procurement program. We were also pleased to receive a Safety Excellence award from PCL Constructors for putting in 5 million hours without a lost time incident.
The hospital is targeting LEED-NB Gold Certification and will consume 46% less energy than called for in the National Energy Code. Our services on the project included:
- HVAC, medical gas and fire protection system installation
- Cooling plant installation (6,300 tons)
- Heating plant installation (56,000 MBH)
- Installation of 71 air handling units and 6,000 plumbing fixtures
