This landmark 72-storey office building has held its position as the premier office address in Canada since the 1970s by undergoing constant upgrades. Certified to LEED-EB Gold, it has continued to exceed building code requirements and operational standards while providing extensive tenant services and amenities, from retail to restaurants and services.
We performed the original mechanical systems (plumbing, heating, cooling, fire protection, and building automation) and have remained a part of the building’s evolution. We continue to be responsible for tenant move in/move out and are a key partner in ongoing capital improvements and energy retrofits.
During the initial installation we developed many innovations for high-rise construction, including:
- Sophisticated material handling strategies and focus on vertical transportation
- Installation of the building’s piping riser by lowering in pipe bundles as the structure was being built
- Maximizing use of prefabrication
Since that time, we have continued to be innovative in servicing and upgrading the building. For example, we employed helicopter lifts to deliver new high-efficiency boilers to the top of the building.
