The new Comox Valley Hospital is a 400,000 sq.ft., 153-bed facility in B.C. We provided the mechanical contracting under a P3 model.
Our work included:
- 5,000 KW cooling plant
- 9,600 KW heating plant
- Numerous plumbing systems
- A central air handling plant for the entire building
- Plumbing and medical gas systems distributed throughout the building
- Infection control and conformance for specification
We fully drafted and prefabricated the mechanical rooms prior to installing them on site. We also coordinated with the general contractor and other trades to centralize onsite storage and to schedule deliveries within the confines of the project footprint.
The new facility is slated for opening late in 2017, and meets LEED Gold-OR certification standards for sustainability. We received a Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Gold Award for construction excellence for this project.
