Food packaging manufacturer CKF is committed to minimizing its ecological footprint. Modern Niagara analyzed and retooled the manufacturing cooling process at CKF’s Etobicoke facility, saving over 1,000,000 kWh of electricity and reducing GHG emissions by 45 tonnes of CO2e.
CKF saw a return on its investment in just one year. The more reliable cooling water pumping system Modern Niagara put in place reduced the facility energy costs by over $150,000 per year and qualified the company for a $100,000 saveONenergy program energy incentive.
Modern Niagara’s Energy Solutions team:
- Undertook a detailed energy study to determine the optimal way of pumping cooling water throughout the facility
- Installed new variable-frequency drives (VFDs) and controls and removed six pumps from the system
- Provided all documentation and calculations CKF needed to collect its energy incentive rebate
