The MGCS Data Centre is a repository and processing facility for the Ontario Government. We provided the mechanical services for this P3 project and met unusually strict energy consumption and sustainability guidelines.
We completed the design and build of this Uptime Institute Tier IV class data centre in just 18 months, with a creative set of solutions that enabled the project to achieve its goals cost effectively.
For example, we designed a heat-recovery system that does not need boilers, providing energy and cost savings. The mechanical system also includes a post-disaster recovery system. In total, the design provides 24 mega Watts of power, includes 10 chillers and more than 200 pieces of mechanical equipment.
We completed the project on time and on budget. It received the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships – 2011 Innovation & Excellence in Infrastructure Development – Silver Award and was awarded “gold” operations status.
